Polyvore Outfit Challenge

I was so excited when Amy, a modstylist from Modcloth, sent me an e-mailing asking if I wanted to participate in the Polyvore Outfit Challenge. The piece they e-mailed me was the Grand Tour Guide Top (I chose the teal color because it's my new favorite color to wear) to make an assemble out of. It was a lot of fun to look through all of the amazing clothes and accessories on the Modcloth website and decide what I would want to wear. The Modcloth site describes the Grand Tour Guide Top as:

So I thought about what I would wear around town. First off, I love that this top is loose and can be dressed up or down. I'd totally pair it with skinny jeans (like the Front Row Fashionista jeans). I'd throw on some simple jewelry like the Get Dressed Up Pup Necklace- Gooo Dawgs!, Dazzling Modifier Ring Set, the Tip Top Shape Earrings in Square and the Wrap Time Watch.

Lastly, there's not much that I love more than a pair of booties. I love these grey ones (and the bows are killer).

This would be such a fun outfit to run around town in and hang out with friends...something I would totally wear!

Thifty Thursday: Fleece-lined Leggings

I was so excited when Ashley from Ocean Avenue Boutique (http://oceanavenueboutique.com/) asked me to review a pair of fleece-lined leggings for her on my blog! I love trying new products and I also love helping out small businesses. Even though I'm posting this on Thrifty Thursday, this could definitely go on Friday Faves!

First off, let me tell you how fabulous Ashley is and her customer service. She is so sweet and is so customer-minded. She knows fashion and the clothes on her site are amazing (see below for my favorite things).

I was so excited to get the package in the mail from her and try on my fleece-lined leggings. Y'all these leggings are only $10 (what a steal!) and are insanely comfy and I will wear them all.winter.long. I could live in these leggings...they are perfect for a mom running errands (or chasing your two year old) or going out. I wanted to show you how versatile they are (PS I hate selfies, but I love these leggings so I sacrificed for y'all).

So I paired them first with my comfy Lilly Pulitzer Cassie dress (I love these dress so much too) and flats. I think the leggings are perfect with a dress that you usually couldn't wear in the cooler temperatures. I wore this outfit to run errands and it kept me nice and toasty.

Then I paired them with a long comfy sweater from Kohls that I wore to dinner. You couldn't definitely dress them up more, but I was just going to a casual dinner. And of course I paired them with my black booties. They make your legs look insanely long!

This is totally my favorite pairing. I paired them with and Target dress (old) that is a sweater material and wedges.

They really are amazing, comfy and super well made. And the best part is that they are a super deal! In fact, everything on Ocean Avenue Boutique's site is a great deal! So what are my favorites that I'd love to have in my closet?!

Thrifty Thursday: Chambray

Welcome to Thrifty Thursday! My husband should be writing these blog posts because he loves a good deal. I guess he's rubbed off on me a little bit...so here's to hoping I can continue Thrifty Thursdays (because everyone likes to save a little more money). My theory is, the more I save, the more I can get.

Chambray is huge this year (as it was last year)...it looks like it's not going anywhere, but that doesn't mean you want to spend a fortune on a chambray shirt. As a part-time stay-at-home mom, I get filthy dirty when E and I are playing. He and I spend time rolling around in the leaves and tackling in the grass. I also hate ironing, so these chambray shirts are wear and wash :) I love a chambray shirt that I can throw on with skinny pants or leggings. A big chunky necklace looks amazing with it.

 

I got this amazing chambray shirt at Kohls (www.kohls.com) this past weekend. It was on super clearance and I had a 15% off coupon. Let's just say I spent a whopping $9 for this shirt (originally $44). What I love most about this shirt is that it's fitted and it hits at a great length to wear with leggings or tighter pants. 

Here's the polka dot chambray with my mint green Gap jeans (www.gap.com) and Target flats (www.target.com) (and of course a Starbucks in hand).

I also got this chambray shirt from Kohls (www.kohls.com) for $9. In my opinion, it doesn't look anything like this picture. It's not washed out at all (maybe it's different in the stores?). It's definitely shorter than the first one I showed you, but super cute with the sleeves rolled up and a bright pair of pants. The hearts on it make it super feminine.

This Gap (www.gap.com) one is similar to one I found at our new Gap outlet on sale for $14. It's a little baggier than I would normally wear, but so comfortable. It's super soft and feels like you're wearing a t-shirt. I'll be honest though, the thing I hate most about this shirt is that you have to iron it. YUCK :)

Well, it's been awhile...

So, I started a blog 2 years ago and I'm just now getting back into it...I've been busy, what can I say?! And, I thought, do people really want to read what I write? Well, maybe they won't want to, but maybe they will. I consider myself pretty funny, but how do I write sarcastically? Or do I? I guess I feel guilted into blogging too. I work in PR and Social Media is a huge part of that...and I don't blog! I've been researching blogs for work (academic ones, not fun pretty ones) and realized that I really should blog. And so here goes...

Let's catch up...well let me introduce myself since I never did that in the first place. I'm a Southern girl living in the same town I grew up in, I have a 2.5 year old boy, I've been married 6 years, I work part-time in public relations/event planning and I spend most of my day running around like a chicken with her head cut off. Whew! That was almost a run-on sentence! What else? I like clothes and accessories a lot...and high heels and painted fingernails, but I'm a tomboy at heart- give me dirt and football games (with a good beer) and I'm a happy camper.

Other important things...running...it's my new addiction. I started running in June as a way to complete a Junior League shift (I know, such a slacker) and then had a pretty good ankle injury. I'm not a patient person and waiting to heal was not the easiest thing. I threw myself straight back into running and ran a 15K in September and my first Half Marathon in October. Let me explain that I was NOT a runner before. In fact, I used to bribe my PE teachers into not making me run. And forget those endurance tests in high school, because I was a dancer I opted out. Running became my alone time at first...when you have a 2.5 year old, things are rarely quiet and those voices in your head rarely get to speak. I run by myself. I run because I can push myself harder than I want to (I actually spend most of my time saying 'push harder'). I run because I WILL eat that extra slice of cake and drink another beer. I run because let's be honest, my abs haven't looked like this since I was 15 years old.

So I see this blog as a place to write about the things I care about: family, event planning, running, cooking  and fashion. If you find my incredibly boring, don't tell me, just stop reading.

I haven't thought about how the blog will be broken up (should I have done this first?) but I'll figure that out as I go. I follow so many amazing bloggers www.sweetsouthernprep.com, www.pinkpreppylillylover.blogspot.com, www.kappaprep.com and www.anneandbradley.blogspot.com to name my favorites that I don't know how I'll even begin to write as well as they do.
