Another busy weekend...I'm pretty sure all of the weekends around Christmas are insanely busy. We had a great weekend and have another Christmas party tonight (at our house). One of my favorite things about this time of year is that you get to see friends that you don't always get to see. There's so much joy during the Christmas season...seeing friends and family, the joy on kids faces and there's nothing better than the joy that comes from all of the amazing cooking. We've had lots of rainy days, which normally gets me down...but remembering the reason for the Christmas season helps lift my spirits.
So without further ado...my week in review!
Apparently I didn't take any pictures on Monday...not even sure where this week went! On Wednesday, E begged for a bike ride. After I somehow got the bike down without killing myself, I loaded him and Milly up (50+ lbs) and down the street we went...only to discover that we had a flat tire. Needless to say, we only made it half a mile and turned around. I pretty much thought I was going to die.
Thursday, my dear friend Whitney at Salon DM3 colored my hair. I've found that since going brunette, the color doesn't really last long in my hair (probably because my hair was sooo blonde before). Anyway, getting your hair colored is always a relaxing experience (at least in my opinion).
Friday, E and I played outside for awhile because it was finally not raining. I wore my Lilly Pulitzer murfee, Lilly Pulitzer sweater, favorite Gap jeans and Tory Burch revas.
And E rolled around in the leaves...
I tried to make Friday extra fun for E because he had his first babysitter that night (I know, 2.5 years and he hasn't had one...it's a crime ;)) so we went to his favorite lunch spot for burritos.
Friday pm, we went to one of our best friends' Christmas parties. It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed wearing my sparkly dress :)
They had a photo booth which was super fun...the hubs and I had to take a turn in there :)
Saturday, our Junior League hosted a Cookies with Santa event. It was a lot of fun to see all of the kids get excited (or terrified) of Santa. It was exhausting to make them smile...to say the least.
Let's just say that E was....not a big fan :)
Visiting Santa wore him out so he fell asleep on the couch (not dreaming about Santa).
This pic never made it to Instagram, but that's homemade Eggnog folks...it was fantastic, really...and my leather skirt was pretty fantastic too!
We had a great weekend...hope you did too! I'll be back tomorrow for Menu Mondays...it's sure to be something yummy (maybe dessert?!)

Tuesday Thankfulness: Simple Things
I was speaking with a co-worker about the simple things in life and
it got me thinking about how much I really love those little moments
that happen. I am beyond thankful that I get to experience those little
moments in my life and to see them happen in E's life.
Since I have Mondays and Fridays off, I get lots of little moments with E. Yes, we have to run errands, cook dinner and clean the house, but I also make sure that there is time set apart that we get to do something fun.
Last week, it was a beautiful day on Monday. After running our normal errands and putting the groceries away, I asked E if he wanted to have a picnic. He got so excited that we were going to eat outside. I fixed his lunch (his request was a hotdog and pineapple) and fixed a cup of coffee for me. We headed outside with Milly and snuggled up on my favorite t-shirt blanket. After we ate lunch, we read a Thanksgiving book and ate popsicles, then E rolled in the leaves. It really was the perfect day. We finished it off with a wagon ride (see pictures on Sunday) and swinging in what he calls his "blue swing." It was a fun day...one that I'll always remember.

Sunday Snapshots (a day late)
So I'm such a loser that I missed blogging yesterday. It's been a busy week and I just didn't get to it. So today, you get a Snapshot Sunday and a Menu Monday! So I'm so sorry, but hopefully this will make it up to you.
Monday night was one of our best friend's birthday, so we had a nice dinner with him and his wife (one of my absolute best friends). It was so nice to have a couple's dinner and laugh about silly things (okay mostly make fun of me).
Wednesday afternoon E showed off his imagination...I went downstairs for five seconds and came back up to this crown and necklace outfit and him running around saying 'Me Princess E." Needless to say, after I laughed for a long time, I taught him that boys are princes.
Thursday was Thanksgiving and this was the best picture we got. We had a wonderful lunch at my grandparents with all of my aunts and uncles and cousins. It reminded me that I am beyond thankful for such a wonderful family :)
Friday morning we stayed in our jammies for awhile and baked muffins...E is the ultimate stirer (okay he makes a total mess, but he loves it).
My brother, an amazing photographer (www.dylanwilsonweddings.com) took our Christmas card pictures on Thursday morning. E wasn't quite cooperative, but we got some great shots. It was freezing cold, so that didn't help matters. Pictures to come!
It's a tradition for Jon and me to decorate my grandma's house for Christmas. It's a lot of work to decorate anybody's house for Christmas, but we really love helping her out and E adores her. They played the piano together while we decorated. I'm so thankful that E has THREE great-grandmothers still living and one great-grandfather.
My favorite thing about holidays is that I have the chance to see wonderful friends that I grew up with. Laura. Allie and I had a nice lunch and went shopping afterwards. It was just like old times.
Sunday we decided to cut down a tree (pictures to come) and stop by and see Santa at the tree farm. Needless to say, E wanted nothing to do with Santa (he did give him a high-five) but this is as close as he got.
Hope those pics make up for my tardiness! See you tomorrow!

Tuesday Thankfulness: Being a boy mom...
I feel very Carrie Bradshaw with my laptop on my lap and coffee in hand (no cigarettes and no crazy column to write). I thought I'd start by writing about one of the most important people in my life because he's easy to write about. Mr. E. E is 2.5 years old and all boy. Before I found out that E was a boy, someone told me that she really didn't see me as a "boy mom" because I was so girly and what would I do with a boy. I don't resent her for saying that, but now I can't see myself as anything except for a "boy mom"...I mean what on Earth would I do with a girl (braid her hair? paint her fingernails? OHH, dress her in Lilly Pulitzer!)?
This is E and me tailgating before a UGA game (this is also me with my new brown hair! I still don't know what to think about being a brunette...).
Boys are like the most amazing gift that God could ever give someone. E is the most affectionate kid I've ever met (I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a very touchy feely person). He is a mama's boy through and through (and he can stay this way for as long as both shall live). Let's be honest, I'd do anything for him. There's nothing I love more than going on adventures with him, pretending that we are airplanes (or firetrucks or pirates), playing in the dirt and splashing in big muddy puddles.
This is E in a nutshell...wild, crazy and ALL boy! He has my sense of humor and outgoing personality times 1,000!
Mondays and Fridays are the best...those are my days where I don't go into the office, so E and I spend our time running errands, playing and lunch-dating. When we aren't running around, he's completely satisfied with curling up on the couch and cuddling (I love those times).
One thing I've learned about being a boy mom? You have to be go with the flow. I am type A through and through, but man have I lightened up. One of my best friends told me that she was worried about me being too strict and too tight-laced before I had E. She told me the other day that she's incredibly proud of how laid back I am (Drop your popsicle on the ground? I'll lick the dirt off and you can eat it. Fall down and scratch up your knees? I won't even tell you that your leg is gushing blood...just brush it off and get up).
Even though he's a boy, he's going to dress in Jon Jons and colored cords until he's potty-trained and totally objecting).
It's true what they say, God gives you exactly what you need...

Sunday Snapshots
My hope is that is on Sundays, I can summarize the week/weekend in photos so that you can have a sneak peek into my life.
It was COLD on Friday, but this little boy does not like to wear a jacket. I was totally mom of the year (sense the sarcasm) by letting him play outside without a jacket on (in the sprinkling rain). I was pretty much just proud that he had shoes on (I hate shoes and never wore shoes as a kid...it's a wonder I'm not sick all the time).
After coming in from the cold, E and our dog Milly (E calls her Yabby) curled up in my lap. Sometimes I wonder if they'll ever learn about personal space, but other times I cherish the fact that they want to snuggle so much. The only times it drives me nuts is after a long run or when I'm typing on my laptop (hence E is literally attached at my hip right now, trying to kiss me).
So just a few photos to catch up on our week :)
Xo,
It seems like E and I make a trip to Chick-fil-A (www.chickfila.com) every Monday. We enjoy our "date" and meeting other kids on the playground. E is still scared to go all the way up to the slide, but he made it a lot farther this trip than others. We always end our trip with Ice Dream!
My quick, but super fun story on this pic: E and I went to Marshall's (www.marshalls.com), E saw Spiderman and Hulk and wanted them so bad, but we told him that he had to wait on Santa to give them to him. Fast forward to Tuesday night (my grandma always comes over to my parents' house for dinner) and low and behold, she had a Spiderman and Hulk to give him. They weren't the same ones as the one in the store, but he had no idea and was in love!It was COLD on Friday, but this little boy does not like to wear a jacket. Saturday morning was a 5K for a friend from high school that lost her life way too soon. I ran my own 5k at home (since I couldn't make it to the race) and ran my fastest 3.01 so far!
During the UGA v. Auburn game, E thought it'd be fun to play the piano...let's just say his lovely music would have probably been better than watching the game :)So just a few photos to catch up on our week :)

Well, it's been awhile...
So, I started a blog 2 years ago and I'm just now getting back into it...I've been busy, what can I say?! And, I thought, do people really want to read what I write? Well, maybe they won't want to, but maybe they will. I consider myself pretty funny, but how do I write sarcastically? Or do I? I guess I feel guilted into blogging too. I work in PR and Social Media is a huge part of that...and I don't blog! I've been researching blogs for work (academic ones, not fun pretty ones) and realized that I really should blog. And so here goes...
Let's catch up...well let me introduce myself since I never did that in the first place. I'm a Southern girl living in the same town I grew up in, I have a 2.5 year old boy, I've been married 6 years, I work part-time in public relations/event planning and I spend most of my day running around like a chicken with her head cut off. Whew! That was almost a run-on sentence! What else? I like clothes and accessories a lot...and high heels and painted fingernails, but I'm a tomboy at heart- give me dirt and football games (with a good beer) and I'm a happy camper.
Other important things...running...it's my new addiction. I started running in June as a way to complete a Junior League shift (I know, such a slacker) and then had a pretty good ankle injury. I'm not a patient person and waiting to heal was not the easiest thing. I threw myself straight back into running and ran a 15K in September and my first Half Marathon in October. Let me explain that I was NOT a runner before. In fact, I used to bribe my PE teachers into not making me run. And forget those endurance tests in high school, because I was a dancer I opted out. Running became my alone time at first...when you have a 2.5 year old, things are rarely quiet and those voices in your head rarely get to speak. I run by myself. I run because I can push myself harder than I want to (I actually spend most of my time saying 'push harder'). I run because I WILL eat that extra slice of cake and drink another beer. I run because let's be honest, my abs haven't looked like this since I was 15 years old.
So I see this blog as a place to write about the things I care about: family, event planning, running, cooking and fashion. If you find my incredibly boring, don't tell me, just stop reading.
I haven't thought about how the blog will be broken up (should I have done this first?) but I'll figure that out as I go. I follow so many amazing bloggers www.sweetsouthernprep.com, www.pinkpreppylillylover.blogspot.com, www.kappaprep.com and www.anneandbradley.blogspot.com to name my favorites that I don't know how I'll even begin to write as well as they do.
